State Fair of Texas - Oct. 2 & Oct. 7, 2008!

To say that we love the State Fair would be an understatement. As soon as we get in the car to leave the Fair and head home, we are already talking about next year - and will continue to talk about next year at a minimum of once a week! :) It is really unbelievable that somewhere along the way Shane & I didn't just sell all our possessions and sign up to be Carnies - we seriously LOVE the fair. Okay, so maybe we wouldn't be the best "carnies" as we actually have all of our teeth plus we don't really play any games nor do we ride any of the rides (although, next year I WILL take Jorja on the Ferris Wheel) BUT, what we love most about the Fair is the FOOD. We go there to eat and eat A LOT!! Neither Shane or I will eat all day so we can be sure and save room for all of our favorites... some of which include, but are not limited to, the FLETCHER'S CORN DOG, Spicy Beef Fajita Nachos, Darn Good Corn, Cotton Candy, Cinnamon Rolls, Homemade Root Beer, and sometimes if we are feeling frisky we'll branch out and try the latest "fried food" sensation! We actually discovered this year that we have a "route" that we take while at the Fair and eat and walk around in the exact same order every year. A little OCD never hurt anyone right? :) This year we actually went twice - and to be honest were a little disappointed we didn't get to go more than that. I know, we are nuts! This year we went once with our friends Ben & Alicia Monk and once with Shane's Mom and both times we took Jorja. However, the time with Shane's mom was more for Jorja and the one with our friends was more for us - but don't kid yourself - both times we ate till we couldn't eat anymore so maybe both times were for us! :) This year we took Jorja to see Boris III aka "Trey" - an abnormally huge pig weighing in at 1212 pounds. YIKES! And, we took her to her first "petting" zoo! She wasn't too sure what to think at first but once we let her get down and hold the feeding shovels, she was ALL about it. After about a million squirts of hand sanitizer we ate and ate and ate and yes, Jorja did try her very first Fletcher's Corn Dog and, of course, enjoyed it. While walking the Midway, we saw another "first" opportunity for Jorja and I couldn't pass it up! We took Jorja on her first Carousel ride and she L-O-V-E-D it!! She had a death grip on her pole and had her lips puckered the entire time going "ooooh". And she kept looking up at the mirrored tiles up top to see her self going up and down. She was adorable! Action shots were hard to get because our camera wasn't fast enough but you can see from the pics below she had a great time. She definitely could have ridden all night long! It was SO fun to watch her experience that for the first time. I love how she makes me enjoy all the little things in life! Here's to another wonderful State Fair experience - I'm sure I'll be dreaming of Big Tex until next year!

I'm still bummed we didn't get to meet you. I was so excited to share one of our common passions! Maybe next year. How fun will it be for Mr. H and Miss J to play together?! Miss you and can't wait to see you again. Let's talk soon. Love you girlfriend. Kiss Miss J for me. Are you posting costume pics?
